The Future of Film & TV on the Web
I spent last night at an excellent event put on by the guys at Show and Tell (supported by BIMA) entitled The Future of Film & TV on the web, a meaty subject if ever there was!
As you might imagine there was much comment about business models (the future is bright and it’s ad funded’), branded content (’Nike soap series anyone’), ugc (’everyone’s doing it, get used to it’) and quailty (’it’s more about context than quality’), amongst all of this there were a nummber of standout comments for me:
* I commission for warm bodies (i.e. people) not for a technology platform (Matt Locke C4)
* The old favourite…‘content is King’, but content and context combined will ultimately rule
* Make it a good story, if it’s good enough it will prevail (Simon Fell - ITV)
* Exploit the opportunities, don’t fear them
* The sky is not falling down, it’s a great time to be in this business (Alexis d’Amecourt 19)
A good night in the most elegant venue I’ve witnessed for an event of this type, the Soho Revue Bar, just a shame we didn’t witness the panelists show us their skills on the venue’s pole! I’m just glad there was no-one who saw ‘TV’ in the title and was expecting something quite different…
